UCC? I thought that meant ‘Union County College’

September 22nd, 2016

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, the tech industry has emerged with another ambiguous acronym to add to the buzzword fray: UCC.

I myself thought UCC stood for Union County College or Uniform Commercial Code. But for anybody who has a message to get across, nowadays UCC has a far more important meaning: Unified Communications and Collaboration. And while that phrase is equally as vague and confusing as the acronym itself, here’s some clarification.

Unified Communications bridges the gap between real time services such as instant messaging, presence information, video conferencing, and speech recognition and non-real-time services such as unified messaging (integrated voicemail, e-mail, SMS and fax).

Who knows, UCC might even replace email one day! Until it does, we can enjoy the benefits of being able to communicate faster and more efficiently, as well as collaborate with off-premise teammates more easily.  For more information about how UCC can work for your company, please contact us at contact@cortel.com!
