Your Phone Is Not For Phone Calls These Days

December 7th, 2016

Mitel 6900 phoneThe mobile phone has changed, my friends.  It’s no longer a simple tool for talking. Nowadays the mobile phone is a communication device on steroids.

Needless to say, user preferences have adapted. Ask your close friends, family, and even coworkers and they’ll say that the first thing they do in the morning is check their phone.  They’ll stand in line in the bitter cold for hours, even overnight, to be the first to spend their last four paychecks on the newest iPhone. They’ll risk getting a ticket so they can text while driving. The minute it breaks, they’ll march right down to Verizon and get it replaced because telecommunications is truly the lifeblood of our society nowadays.

So here’s what it means for your business.

Your phone system can’t be solely for phone calls anymore. It has to accommodate the human need to type because nobody wants to talk on the phone these days. See, mobility tools have changed society and people have gotten used to controlling their time. So at work your phone has to give people options such as texting someone back rather than calling, checking voicemail through email, or speaking a message rather than typing. The list goes on and on.

If you’re not doing it, your competition is, meaning their people are able to work smarter and faster. Believe it or not, it could affect your retention if you plan on including the tech savvy Millenial Generation, the first cohort of people raised completely in the digital age.

That’s why Mobility is a core focus here at Cortel Business Solutions.  For more information about what our telecommunications solutions can do for your business, email contact@cortel.com.
